Over the past few years Sriracha has become almost as common as ketchup and mustard as the continent has risen, so has some controversy, neighbors around the factory complain at the chilis used to make the spicy sauce. They say it causes health problems and rumors of a shortage also circulated on a recent visit to Los Angeles we realized something the factories are open to the public for tours people can drop by for the real story, they are free and last 30 minutes. It has become a popular tourist attraction, for foodies it rivals a walk through the wonka factory. The owner had two recently opened a much bigger factory to keep up with demand, increased 20 percent, new neighbors in Urbandale started to complain about pollution from the factory the owners responded with an open-door policy the following month. They can produce 18,000 bottles in one hour per line, there are nine different lines in the factory and each one is dedicated to a different size, and they are tapped out at their demand, they have not taken on any new distributors. What is holding them back is having enough chili to make chili sauce. Every year they increase by 20%, Have you ever tried a Subwich? Well if you ever travel to India you now can stop at a local Domino's and purchase an individual Subwich for 105 rupees ($1.72 US). Foodbeast.com says that "they are available at all participating locations in India. Domino's India is moving into the sandwich aspect of fast food with a new item that combines both pizza and patties. They're calling them Subwiches as they sandwich together a protein patty between two slices of pizza dough. Sources say a drunk guy did not come up with this idea."
The Subwiches are sandwiches made with raw pizza dough thrown into an oven to cook. Because pizza triangles are roughly the same size as a regular slice of pizza, the Subwich resembles a sandwich made with two slices of pizza slammed together. Domino's is offering both chicken and vegetarian options. Patrons can order a breaded, chili jalapeño, three-bean patty (what a mouthful) or an herbed chicken patty. The Subwich comes with a spicy, creamy, pepper relish and a tri-colored blend of sliced bell peppers. Domino's could potentially implement this in their stores throughout the country, alot of people in the United States would probably like to try something like this. It is totally different from anything that Dominos has ever done. According to supermarket news.com "Across all departments. With the plan of carrying these products only on a very limited basis. The breadth of products was remarkable, and pumpkin was represented in every department of the store, from the expected (Pumpkin Bread Mix, Pumpkin Spice Chai, Honey Roasted Pumpkin Ravioli, Kennebunkport Pumpkin Ale) to the decidedly unexpected (Pumpkin Dog Biscuits, Pumpkin Macarons, Pumpkin Ice Cream, Pumpkin Croissants, Dark Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Salted Caramels). But, it wasn’t simply about the abundance of product, which was a remarkable achievement in product development and timing all on its own. The endcaps all featured pumpkin products, in-store signing highlighted the products at the shelf, the demo station was sampling some of the pumpkin items (pumpkin corn bread with bacon), and the associates were eagerly talking up the individual products in the aisles and at the checkout."

Trader Joe's does a wonderful job also by educating their employees on what they are implementing into their stores. If you have never been to Trader Joe's it is definitely worth checking it out and experiencing a grocery store that is very unique. 1. Luma on Park
2. Ravenous Pig 3. Hillstone 4. California Grill 5. Cask & Larder 6. Todd English's bluezoo 7. Amura 8. Hawkers Asian Street Fare 9. K Restaurant 10. Ceviche Tapas Bar and Restaurant Seeing that I have been to 4 out of the 10 I really need to try some of the spots suggested. About two weeks ago for my sisters 24th birthday my family and I went to Luma on Park Ave. in Winter Park. I absolutely loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. Being that the month of October is Magical Dining Month, the time of year when you can satisfy your craving for haute cuisine at a more affordable price. We were able to select from an array of appetizers, entrees and desserts. I shied away from the seafood on the menu and stuck to pasta. It was probably the best RIGATONI BOLOGNESE I have ever had. In the dish there was red wine and parmesan which gave it a ton of flavor. For dessert I had a chocolate panna cotta that had salted caramel, chocolate crumbles, vanilla crème fraîche incorporated into it. As Hawkers Asian Street Fare being one of my go to restaurants when my friends ask me where I would like to go eat. My favorite dish there is their udon noodles. Amura would be second if someone asked me where I would like to go to dinner. My birthday dinners are typically spent at Amura devouring Rolls Royce sushi rolls or the volcano roll. To the left is the infamous kangaroo burger and here is the recipe. There were many reviews on the burger and many people were not disappointed at all with it. According to reviews kangaroo meat is slightly sweeter than regular meat, the burgers are alot more moist than regular hamburgers. They also had mentioned that they are similar to Persian meat patties and have alot of flavor. They preferred to give it more of an American twist next time to change it up a little bit. Not very many people in the United States even eat Kangaroo and they happened to sell it Jungle Jim's market in Cincinnati, OH. Some of the questions I have are, what is the texture like of the meat, does it have a gamy flavor. While watching food network not too long ago they had mentioned to marinate gamy meat in Coca Cola to get rid of the gamy flavor in the meat.
More questions: What is the fat content? Do people enjoy this in Australia since they are around Kangaroo's? Does the meat itself make the burger or do the spices that are added to it make it? How would most consumers react if they started selling this at fast food joints?
According to the Huffington Post in 1900, 2 percent of meals were eaten outside the home. In 2010, 50 percent were eaten away from home and one in five breakfast were from McDonald's. Research shows that children who have regular meals with their parents do better in every way, from better grades, to healthier relationships, to staying out of trouble. Americans spend more time watching cooking on the Food Network than actually preparing their own meals. Cows and chickens nowadays are given corn as their main source of food, this allows them to grow faster. In the past all animals that we eat consumed only grass which kept them leaner and healthier.
There are many ways you can shift from eating out, you can plant a garden, you can make grocery shopping a family activity as well as cooking can become a way for the family to bond. People in Europe invest alot more in their food and lead much longer lives compared to Americans. If you prepare a special place for your family to sit down and all eat together it will make everything alot better. You can also bring your own shopping bags to the market, recycle your paper, cans, bottles and plastic and start a compost bucket this will help with the environment and you will gain personal satisfaction. Paula Dean and her company purchased the right to 13 seasons of her show on Food Network. The online network will cost users $7.99 to $9.99 to watch programming. There is a simple recipe that Paula Dean has for her Southern Fried Chicken. It only take about 24 minutes to make it. It pairs well with sparkling wine , food network says. You are able to mix all of the seasonings together and they store for up to 6 months without going bad. It yields up to 4 servings and is a delicious alternative to having turkey on thanksgiving.
Paul Dean is known for her Southern recipes loaded with butter and sugar, last year her shows went off air due to her racial epithet. She lost numerous product endorsements after everything happened. She is one of the many stars that is now find her way back but this time on the Web and no through television. On Tuesday she appeared on the today show where she talked about her comeback and said how sorry she was about the whole situation. This could be a huge deal for her and could lead into something else in the future and may allow her to expand her restaurants. Starting Sept. 19th Burger King will be implementing the blackest burger yet in Japan, with a black bun made out of squid ink and bamboo charcoal, also the cheese is infused with bamboo charcoal. The oozing substance is black onion, garlic and squid inc. The bamboo charc oal was added to the cheese to give it its color, while squid ink was added to the sauce to make it darker. The bamboo charcoal adds a nice aroma to the bun as well. They will be available up until November for around $4.50. The black burgers were first introduced for a limed time by the Burger King Chain in 2012 and became a hit, outselling all other new products that Burger King offered during the year, according to the company. They were also available for a limited time in 2013.
It will be interesting to see the marketing of these burgers and what strategies Burger King will use to not shy away customers from eating a funky looking burger. Some questions that I have are:
Lately, I have been in the baking mood. Yesterday while I was browsing through Walmart doing my weekly grocery shopping I came across Pillsbury Dough Boy Pumpkin Cookies with cream cheese frosting chips in them. Immediately my stomach started to grumble and I knew that the pumpkin cookies were going in my shopping cart. Being that I have never tried them before I was curious as to what they would taste like. When I came home I showed them to my roommate and she started to laugh. Anyways, now that I am on this pumpkin craze, I wanted to share a recipe for a easy glazed chocolate pumpkin bundt cake that you could make that looks not only tasty but is on their healthier scale compared to the cookies that I bought. Most of the ingredients you probably have in your house already which is pretty convenient. It makes up to 16 servings which is plenty for a large party and if you serve it for dinner you can freeze the left overs and enjoy later on at your convience. I prefer to have my bundt cake cold but you can serve it either cold or warm

Food has always been something that I personally love to talk about. It is always on my mind throughout the entire day. I would say that about 90% of the conversations I have with my family are based around food. You can pretty much consider me as being what is known as a " foodie". Whether I am taking food tours in Greenwich Village, NYC meeting Heidi from the reality show that use to be on MTV "The Hills" or I am devouring cupcakes with my dad on our food tour in Nolita (North of little Italy ) in New York City. Learning about the different restaurants and the history behind how they were started on these food tours in New York inspired me to create a blog that is completely revolved around food. The picture below was our tour guide Annie who is explaining the carpaccio and arugula pizza. The pizza is made in a brick oven stove where it only takes about five to six minutes to bake. Throughout the tour in Nolita we were brought to some of the top rated restaurants that many people besides locals do not know about. Getting to meet new people on this tour was the coolest part. There was a family from Australia and they said that in Australia they call arugula "rocket" which I found fascinating.
